Entrepreneurship Post (#1)

50 Word Description: My goal is to expand on the app Notes Plus and make it possible for you to take pictures of notes and have it convert into text that you can then edit and create a stylus that will work just like a pencil does with pointed and accurate tip. The opportunities are endless.

The goal of my project is to help expand the connection between technology and the classroom. As students growing up in the world of technology, we are put in a situation of figuring out how do we bring technology to the classroom. How do we as students bring technology to the classroom? How can we help the movement of the technological world that we live in? We are the guinea pigs in this situation. Apple introduced us to the iPad, which in many cases has changed the way students take notes in class. Sure you can use a laptop but there is nothing like being able to carry a small, light machine that can do just about anything you’d need it to do in the classroom.
Everyday I go looking for the newest and greatest app out there that will help make my day go by more seamlessly. Usually, that’s me finding something that will help with my school day. I recently bought iStudiez Pro an app by iStudiez Team and I love it! It provides a great planner and assignment book, but all based on technology; it seamlessly syncs between the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. But there is still something missing. I am still having trouble with note taking. Now I love to type my notes, but somethings you just simply cannot type, like Math for instance.
This is when I came across the app Notes Plus by Viet Tran, it is a great note taking app on the iPad that lets you write on it like you would your notes. That’s not even the coolest part; the best part is that you can use hand recognition software to convert your hand writing into a typed format. This software is on the right track; they have a palm pad, stylus capability, audio recording but it’s still missing things.
I still have issues with the palm pad. Everyone writes differently, so I want a stylus the will be the only thing that recognizes the screen and my hand to be left out of it. The stylus has to be like and actual pencil with a pointy tip. All the styli I’ve been exposed to are to round and bulgy and some are like rubber and catch as you write on the screen. I need the stylus to have smooth surface and move seamlessly across the screen of the iPad without harming it. What if I wasn't able to use my iPad in class that day? It would be great if I could take a picture of my notes and have it convert it to text within the app, then I know it will be with all my other notes from the section. I think this will help a lot as it takes out the worry of whether or not I use the iPad or stick with a notebook. I don’t want to be looking back and forth between a notebook and an iPad. There is so much more you can do with an app like this and I am determined to find out what those things are.
The main idea is to just make school life simpler. A goal by my senior year would be to only be carrying around an iPad and maybe Laptop. Imagine if that’s all you had to bring to class. You wouldn’t have to lug around any heavy backpacks. Just and iPad with all the information you’ll need. Now thats something to look forward to and I’m going to make it happen because if there’s one thing I believe in it’s technology and all that comes with it, what ever that may be.

  1. We share the same idea, that is"bring the technology into the classroom". My idea is to create a E-note that can take notes by sound recognization, which is kind of similiar to yours, however, as a prouct solely for notetaking, I don't think the simplest notetaking is enough, my purpose also includes expanding notes by Internet etc.

  2. This is an app I've been trying to find for awhile but it doesn't really seem to exist. Cool Idea.

  3. This is really good. I, myself use iStudiez Pro and it's amazing at helping me keep track of my assignments, exams and events but we want more. So i see where you got this from. Writing notes in class is always important but with technology advancing you want something that is going to help you but with classes like math its hard to take notes on your laptop. An app that is able to let you write out your notes with a pen is amazing or simply taking a picture and converting it into notes would be amazing. Hopefully this comes up soon because it would be perfect. Technology in the classroom would be amazing.

  4. I really like this idea because I use my ipad with a bluetooth keyboard to take notes for almost all of my classes. I love this because it is compact and my rubber keyboard is very quiet but I take alot of science classes that require a lot of math and I can never take notes on any math examples. I think you should include the option to not only write with a stylus on your note taking device but also be able to take ones handwriting and convert it to text, it should have voice to text capabilities, voice recording, and your picture to text conversion idea.
